A review of the econometric literature on the effects of child care costs on parental employment was written for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. The review will help the Ministry to provide robust advice on the effects of tighter targetting of subsidies for Early Childhood Education.

Interviews with firms that had received support from the Market Development Assistance Scheme contributed to the Ministry’s evaluation of the scheme.

A detailed case study of the Regional Partnerships Programme’s activity in the Wellington region was completed, contributing to the Ministry’s evaluation of the scheme across New Zealand. This was the first case study to be completed as part of the evaluation, and was used by the Ministry as a guide for the remainder of the case studies.
